The UK’s only recruitment review site, www.HireScores.com commissioned research to look at the number of Brits looking for new jobs. The site polled 1,987 people, 1,567 of which were currently employed. 51% of those in employment said that they were actively looking for another role. Read More
British businesses are 'Europe's most bullish' - KPMG

British companies are the most bullish in Europe about their prospects for future growth, with 83% of chief executives claiming that the outlook for their business in 2010 is either good or very good, according to new research from KPMG International. The survey found that approximately three quarters (74%) of European businesses believe their prospects for 2010 to be positive. At 83%, UK firms were overwhelmingly the most optimistic, while in contrast, German (65%) and Danish firms (66%) were the most measured in their assessment of the outlook for the next 12 months. UK business urged to take apprentice grants

At the start of National Apprenticeship Week, the government is urging British businesses to take up the new Apprentice Grant for Employers (AGE) scheme offering a £2,500 grant for each 16 or 17-year-old apprentice taken on. Supermarket Morrisons is to create 20,000 apprenticeships in the next year, while Crossrail is to take on 400 apprentices and B&Q says it aims to double its apprenticeship intake to 300 this September.
