Graduates Vs Recruitment Industry

12th September 2006
Through our own personal experience and market research we concluded that the student and graduate markets were completely fed up with the way they were treated by ‘high street’ recruitment agencies. This prompted us to take a stand and create a system that would challenge the business model and functions of the ‘high street’ recruitment agencies. Within a week of completing my degree we started to write a 250 page business plan which took five months to complete.

On the strength of the plan we were successful in raising the £250,000 startup capital needed to fund this innovative business model through selling a share holding to a private investor. We even found ourselves in a privileged position where we were able to turn down the bank's offer of an unsecured contribution. Over a year later, and after a very exhausting and challenging development, we are finally there: the result,, the UK’s first online recruitment agency. encompasses many revolutionary features including the Online Reference Score™ (recruitment’s very own eBay style feedback system), the Transfer Fee and Turn Your Friends Into Cash™.We also offer all our candidates free online testing and training courses, exclusive concessions on services and products from popular brands, and priority access to our Tightly Knit social events.

The main reason for developing was because we felt that candidates needed an agency that allowed them to market themselves directly to companies allowing the company to decide who they want to employ, without the interference of a third party. also allows candidates to pitch different hourly rates for advertised temporary jobs and those which are sent directly to them by our clients. The benefit of this system is that candidates can set their own rates without a recruitment consultant dictating what is earned. Additionally, this pitching system means that the less experienced candidate can market their services and pay rate corresponding to their experience.  We all know that the ‘high street’ agency will only push candidates who have the practical experience, largely ignoring academic knowledge and potential capability. is beneficial to its clients on a number of levels, primarily in that the traditionally high recruitment agency fees have been abolished.

The temporary margins have been reduced and the thousands of pounds placement fees replaced with a low fixed fee payable after they have successfully filled their positions. In summary, clients can source, communicate with, test and interview, pre-identity checked, skills tested and referenced candidates, and only pay an average of £400 when they successfully fill their positions. – Honest, Transparent and Refreshing.
