Strictly Come Paycut!

26th August 2009

It has been reported that all of the judges on the BBC’s show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ have been asked to take a pay cut, along with the hosts Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly. There have been many pay cuts announced throughout the BBC including, Sir Terry Wogan and many others in the BBC’s effort to reduce spending.

Arlene Phillips is not part of the panel for next year’s ‘strictly’ and has been replaced by Alesha Dixon, who is a previous winner from 2007, to help the show appeal to a wider audience. Many stars on the BBC are aware of the need to reduce spending and have accepted that it is difficult times where money is concerned, although the BBC do not comment on individual contracts.

Len Goodman remains philosophical, "I think we'll probably be asked to take a pay cut which I understand, we are in the middle of a recession, the job's brilliant. It's not exactly working on the docks - which I did for 10 years - is it? It's a joy so anything I get I always feel a bit of a fraud so I don't mind if they knock off a couple of bob. I'm only sitting there saying, 'cock your leg up and keep your head up higher'."
