The job market currently might seem dismal, but there is now fresh hope for many job-seekers. The Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) is due to open 35 new hotels within the next three years in Westminster, as part of the group’s plan for expansion.
In 2010, the IHG beat out all other Hotels, reporting a 22pc increase in profits over all other leisure and travel sectors. This means that in the near future, over 3,000 jobs will be up for grabs in the UK.
IHG is the world’s largest hotelier. They operate 255 major hotels just in the UK, under the name of Staybridge Suites, Crowne Plaza and Hotel Indigos. However, the Holiday Inn is their largest draw for weary travellers in the United States, as well as in London. There are 230 Holiday Inns.
Of the older Holiday Inns, there will be marked improvements, such as a different brand name. New recruitment training and re-direction for current employees will be necessary, according to a spokesperson from the IHG.
The new overhaul scheme will create numerous careers within the famous Hotel’s network, in addition to the other changes to take place to these facilities. For new recruits fresh to the job market, this latest report couldn’t come at a better time.
