This article (originally posted on HRreview) interested us this week. A report from Learn Direct has stated that £270million is wasted in recruitment expenses every year. This is staggering! Time to ensure you are getting value for money and return from your agency.
Recruitment efforts to attract qualified candidates for vacant positions is costing employers across the UK more than £1.16 billion annually, with up to £270 million in recruitment expenses yielding no results.
Even with job seekers lining up at a rate of 20 per job opening in some instances, employers are still scrambling to find the right candidate to fill some of their more specialised positions.
A new report issued by non-profit online training and assessment organisation, Learndirect, titled "Work Ready? Get Fit For The Job," offers ten recommendations that may help both employers and job seekers achieve more success in their employment goals.
The following are recommendations from the report:
* Offer online and other alternative course work in English and Maths for students nearing graduation
* Better education needs to be offered for teens 16 and over, regarding available career training and what to expect in the work place
* Employers need to provide detailed qualification information in advertised job postings
* Employers should make the transition to using more economical methods of recruiting, such as online recruitment, to cut expensive recruitment costs
As part of their Make it Count campaign, Learndirect will be offering workshops for job seekers on how to write a CV, prepare for a job interview, and much more. Their goal is to help employers to find the right candidate for their job vacancies more easily, while showing job seekers how to showcase their qualifications.
