Whatever profession you’re in, you’re bound to receive an odd request or two from time to time. From PAs to teachers and hospitality staff, there are some very funny stories around! Here are top ten odd requests from different industries:

1. Phone Home
One teacher received a call from a parent at dinner time, asking her to speak to her pupil to tell them that it was time to eat and not to play on video games.

2. Teacher Spy
Another teacher was asked to call up a parent’s ex-husband daily to find out what he was up to!

3. Dumping Duty
A personal assistant was asked by their boss to dump their son’s girlfriend on their behalf!

4. Pie Problems
A virtual assistant was asked to research British suppliers of canned pumpkin for a wedding. How random!

5. The Social Network
One firm was asked to create a precise clone of Facebook for a client – in one month. We bet even Zuckerberg himself couldn’t manage that herculean task!

6. Work from Home
One manager was signed off sick from work, and asked his assistant to come over to his house and work from his kitchen.

7. Get Out of Jail Free Card
Another firm was asked to create a contingency line-item for bail money!

8. Random Concierge Requests
One concierge was politely asked to obtain a goat for a guest at 2am in the morning to star in a documentary a hotel customer was filming. The goat originally meant for the filming had passed away during the evening and they needed a replacement – and the concierge come hero dutifully suceeded.

9. Fame!
A hotel housing a celebrity guest was respectfully giving them plenty of privacy. However they were then asked to organise some “celebrity attention” and had to get hotel staff to ask for autographs, photographs and award-related questions to keep the guest’s ego intact.

10. Tuna or Nothing
A waiter working in a restaurant got asked for a tuna sandwich. The restaurant didn’t even sell tuna sandwiches – but they did not see why they could not order something which wasn’t on the menu.

It’s amazing what oddities people come across during their professional lives!
