One would think it would be older workers who are hurting the most for the lack of a job. According to the latest recruitment poll, this is no longer the case.
Half of the young people questioned (65%) between the ages of 18 and 25 said they have contemplated relocating, with 52% said they may have to start “seriously considering” moving abroad to search for jobs as they find themselves out of the job loop.
The latest findings revealed that more young people than ever before are largely contemplating Australia, followed by China and Canada as the most popular destination to launch their careers.
Adrian Jacob of Student Currency Exchange conducted the study, which included almost 2,000 out of work young people, saying, “Job prospects in the UK are extremely gloomy for young people with youth unemployment at its highest since records began and things don’t look like they’re going to improve anytime soon.
‘It makes sense that young people will look to go where there are more career opportunities and quite possibly a better quality of life.”
The total unemployment has reached an 18-year high, rising by 27,000 in the three months to January-further evidence of our economic slow-down.
Consider the numbers: The sheer number of jobless young people rose by 30,000 to 974,000. These are the highest since the first records started in 1992.
