The DevOps Engineer Role:
Reporting to the Head of DevOps you will assist in the modernisation of the build and deployment of a cloud-based SaaS application with a fast-growing userbase.
We are looking for an experienced engineer who is proficient with Linux, Packer and Terraform, has great knowledge of building in AWS and has worked with Python and Ansible. You will be working within the DevOps team, alongside our development teams to deliver a stable, reliable, fault-tolerant product to our clients, as well as helping to expand and improve an automated and reliable build and delivery solution for our development teams.
You will be required to balance cost and performance to deliver solutions that are durable, dependable, and repeatable using best infrastructure-as-code practises.
+ Modernise and streamline existing build and deployment pipelines
+ Migrate manual builds and deployments into CI/CD
+ Achieve technical excellence while investing in automation
+ Safeguard and improve the track-record of reliability for our platform
+ Maintaining the architecture and infrastructure for all systems, mainly in AWS but also some on-premises
+ Support client-facing production environments out-of-hours if required, however this is a very infrequent occurrence
+ Ensure the highest levels of quality, reliability and security for ourselves and our clients
+ Support and mentor other technical members of staff with Linux system administration or cloud technologies and best practises
+ Assist other teams in the company to achieve their goals and answer their technical queries as required
+ Extensive experience using Linux, AWS, Packer and Terraform.
+ Significant programming and/or platform engineering experience.
+ Belief in continual education and improvement.
+ Ability to explain technical problems and solutions to all levels of the business, considering their input and understanding how our solution will affect their business goals.
+ Familiarity with Ansible, Python, (My)SQL or other relational databases.
+ Familiarity with CI/CD systems for automatic builds and deployments of software.
+ Experience working with version control systems such as Git.
+ Experience of virtualisation, both in AWS and on-premises using technologies such as Proxmox or VMWare ESXi.
+ Knowledge of or experience with containerisation with Docker, Docker-compose and/or Kubernetes.
+ Working knowledge of agile software development methodologies. [Nice to Have]
