Our Mission: To ensure the future of hand embroidery through teaching, practising and promoting the art and techniques of hand embroidery to the highest standard Tradition, quality and innovation.

Who are we?

The Royal School of Needlework is a renowned centre of excellence in the teaching and creation of hand embroidery. It offers Degree, Certificate, Diploma and day classes at its base in the iconic Hampton Court Palace and 7 other centres, four in the UK, two in Japan and one in North America.

Being 150 years old gives us a background and pedigree second to none, but we are also a dynamic and contemporary organisation with students coming from all over the world to study on our courses.

In addition to teaching, we run a Studio for textile conservation, restoration and new work for a range of clients from individual families to public bodies. We have a Collection and Archive of some 60,000 objects including embroideries, designs, photographs and documents which are used for student reference and public exhibitions. We also run tours to see our exhibitions and have a shop supplying stitch and RSN related products.

P.S. You might know us from when we worked with Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen as our skilled embroiderers created the bespoke lace on the current Princess of Wales’ wedding dress, veil and shoes.

The Digital Marketing Officer role:

We are seeking a highly motivated Digital Marketing Officer to support the Head of Marketing in marketing all aspects, with focus on the digital and social content.to expand the reach of our brand and its courses.

You will have experience in digital marketing and a passion for all things digital and bring this experience to deliver an excellent digital experience, you will be engaging and inspiring to our loyal community, as well as growing its international audience during this exciting period of our history, with our new 150th anniversary and beyond campaign 150 Forward.

You will be in a hands-on role working in a small team on campaigns and initiatives, proposing how we best support and deliver them through our digital marketing. You will be assisting on events and projects across the business in this exciting new opportunity.

What you day might look like:

+ Developing the social media marketing plan with the Head of Marketing and providing content and reports as required.
+ Creating inspiring content to grow and engage our international community.
+ Monitoring, measuring and reporting SEO and Google Analytics
+ Working with the wider team to plan and execute campaigns and initiatives
+ Writing, designing and digital delivery of the monthly eNews and additional dedicated marketing mailings to meet our core Marketing objectives.
+ Building the eNews audience and monitoring performance.
+ Creating and producing video content for digital platforms, to support the 150th Anniversary campaign
+ Working with IT and external contractors to monitor the website, including updating and uploading content.
+ Assisting with the creation, distribution and analysis of audience questionnaires.
+ Assisting with preparation, build up and break down of events
+ Support the Head of Marketing in delivering the strategic initiatives to enable us to achieve our long-term growth and vision.

About you:

+ Experience with creating and managing social media plans and successful campaigns
+ Experience with creating and uploading content to digital platforms, in a professional context
+ Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
+ Experience with creating content for and dispatching email marketing campaigns using marketing platforms such as MailChimp
+ Writing experience to produce our monthly e-news
+ Proven IT skills including Adobe, Microsoft Office 365, WordPress, MailChimp, Canva, social media scheduling programmes, SurveyMonkey
+ Photography skills to take images to inspire and engage an existing and new community
+ Experience with creating and updating web pages using CMS (ideally WordPress)
+ Well organised to work in a busy environment managing multiple projects

It would also be a bonus if:

+ You have experience in managing and creating video content for social channels
+ You have experience in using Cloud Computing
