£22,600 – £28,000

Full Time – Shift Pattern is 11:00 – 19:00 Monday to Friday
25 + 8 bank holidays a year.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Planner to join the Transport Planning team.

Reporting to the Transport Planning Team Leader and operating in a competitive market, you will be responsible for planning UK planning volume efficiently and cost effectively to meet KPI and budgetary targets, this will be achieved by using Transport Management System (TMS) to plan transport for all of our operational sites across the UK.

You will also be involved with driver briefs/debriefs and involved with talking to our customers about their delivery.

What you’ll deliver day-to-day:

+ Review systematic plan created in TMS – validates the planning against specified criteria and makes changes and improvements where necessary and to minimise spend
+ Review carrier costing and update accordingly
+ Closely controls and monitors costs and is responsible to record common carrier expenditure and to adhere to cost budgets. Actively strives to reduce costs and implement cost saving initiatives
+ Supports and helps to implement systematic improvements to improve further the effectiveness of the transport planning
+ Responsible for arranging haulage and to manage assigned haulers relevant to the operational sites.
+ Actively supports and plays a key role in adopting TMS system across the UK in the most cost efficient and logical manner
+ Discuss individual deliveries with customers
+ Work with the driver team to ensure their routes are completed and deal with any delivery which has failed
+ The role is pivotal around Customer Service and Operating Safely in line with one of our key values “Serious about Safety”

About You:

This role would suit a competent individual with experience of working with good knowledge of the transport industry. The successful applicant will work to high standards in all aspects of their duties, and be capable of working alone. It is essential that you are self-motivated, focused on customer satisfaction, flexible and happy to be a team player.

You will have good transport experience, excellent communication skills, attention to detail and be flexible with work times. It is essential that you are self-motivated, willing to learn and have the relevant transport knowledge. You will have high standards in all that you do and possess excellent customer service skills.
