We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Planner to join the Transport Planning team.

Reporting to the Transport Planning Team Leader and operating in a competitive market, you will be responsible for planning movements into the UK following the customs processes, to meet KPI and budgetary targets, this will be achieved by using the Transport Management System (TMS).

What you’ll deliver day-to-day:

+ Review systematic plan created in TMS – validates the planning against specified criteria and makes changes and improvements where necessary and to minimise spend
+ Pre-plans volume where appropriate – reviews the order screens and plans ahead on specific relevant orders. Pulls forward orders that could be released in advance of delivery day to improve vehicle utilisation and re align orders in case of full routes to save on carrier costs
+ Closely controls and monitors costs and is responsible to record common carrier expenditure and to adhere to cost budgets. Actively strives to reduce costs and implement cost saving initiatives
+ Responsible for freight settlement – manages invoices in query, validates costs and approves or declines differences
+ Supports and helps to implement systematic improvements to improve further the effectiveness of the transport planning
+ Responsible for arranging haulage and to manage assigned haulers relevant to the operational sites.
+ Actively supports and plays a key role in adopting TMS system across the UK in the most cost efficient and logical manner
+ Discuss individual deliveries with customers
+ Work within EU and Global customs and excise regulations, which full training would be provided for
+ The role is pivotal around Customer Service and Operating Safely in line with one of our key values “Serious about Safety”

About You:

This role would suit a competent individual with experience of working with good knowledge of the transport industry. The successful applicant will work to high standards in all aspects of their duties, and be capable of working alone. It is essential that you are self-motivated, focused on customer satisfaction, flexible and happy to be a team player.

You will have good transport experience, excellent communication skills, attention to detail and be flexible with work times. It is essential that you are self-motivated, willing to learn and have the relevant transport knowledge. You will have high standards in all that you do and possess excellent customer service skills.
