2015 is set to be an app-tastic year, with millions of useful applications now gracing our smartphones for a huge range of activities. However, we wouldn’t be the contemporary recruitment agency we are if we weren’t up to date on the excellent new job searching apps that are making waves in the recruitment industry…so here goes.
CV Building Apps
For many looking for a new career to match the new year, it is important to make sure your CV is tip-top in order to attract the best employers. Resume Builder Pro, for Android and iPhone costing around £2.50, is a great app designed at taking the stress out of creating a CV. It has a variety of categories to edit including Skills, Education, Experience and References as well as a great feature which allows users to pull the information from their LinkedIn to be included on their new CV.
At just £1.99, Pocket CV is a cheaper resume builder which still has some top features. CVs are split into seven easy to manage sections which can then be edited. Users can preview their new CV and see it as a recruiter would, making it easier to spot mistakes and change things around to create a better flowing resume. There are eight templates available so there is something to suit any style of CV or job application. Mobile recruiting has taken off in a big way in 2014 and shows no signs of letting up in the coming year. Indeed has an excellent mobile recruiting app that gives users access to millions of job postings worldwide with the ability to apply directly from a smartphone, tablet or laptop.
Jobs by Careerbuilder App also lets users apply for jobs from their mobile devices and includes the added feature of up-to-the-minute notifications should an application be moved forward. If you are an hourly worker looking to fill a gap in jobs and earn some extra cash, Snagajob is another a great source. Search for thousands of short-term jobs at a variety of levels (only in the US at the moment unfortunately) and for a huge number of industries, all with the option of applying directly from your phone.
Ready to Work?
Interview Questions Pro is an iPhone and iPad app that splits practice questions into sections, covering critical thinking, work history, behavioural aspects and a range of other typical interview topics. There is also a section designed to take the fear out of the question, “so, do you have anything to ask us?” This is often a question that fills candidates with nerves as they desperately try and think of an interesting and engaging question that demonstrates intuitivieness and excitement at the potential job. Interview Questions Pro helps to increase confidence with quality preparation pre-interview.
Interview Skills is an app that comes from Barclays Capital and is intended to help people who are interviewing specifically for Barclays, however has a great deal of valuable information for any candidate. This app tells the interview stories of three fictional candidates and their answers to four interview questions about topics such as motivation, business awareness, competency and role. The user then listens to the candidate’s answers and decides which one is the strongest to glean an idea of what should be said in the interview to get the best reaction from potential employers.
