As many as one in five businesses have breached the Data Protection Act (DPA) according to the BSI recent study. The report aimed at taking a snapshot of how seriously businesses take the DPA and it highlighted how businesses need to implement more serious protocols and measures to protect the general public’s information. The research found that as many as 65% of all businesses do not give their staff DPA training at all and amongst this number, nearly half have no, one person responsible for the safety of the data held by their company as a whole.
A worrying 18% of SME businesses weren’t even sure what a DPA breach was and as a customer you will have to be sure the company you trust with your personal data such as names, addresses, telephone numbers and card details are protected.
