Oh Snap: Recruitment Ideas from Social Talent for SnapChat

SnapChat is taking over the world. It started with appealing to young audiences and it’s grown rapidly into a tech giant and global social media contender. It’s got lucrative advertising opportunities, phenomenal reach and the naughty USPs we all know and love – so is now the time to look to it for mobile and online recruitment benefits too?

Brand is King

When SnapChat first came out the buzz was around using it as a creative outlet to target millennials and get job ads out to them. Things have moved on now and an insightful post from SocialTalent indicates brands should use SnapChat to do just that – showcase their brand.

Today’s workforce looking for jobs isn’t just looking for a big bank balance every month (although it helps!). Cultural fit, well-being agenda and growth opportunities are also important and SnapChat with its huge uptake and daily use can be a great way for brands to showcase this.

SnapChat influencer Branden Harvey encapsulates the platform’s capabilities perfectly, saying:

“Snapchat is very much built for storytelling”.

Every brand has a story, and this is the chance to tell it.

Live Events

SocialTalent also had another wonderful idea with regards to mobile recruitment and the utilisation of SnapChat. Live events and conferences can be uploaded in short bursts, giving potential candidates even more of an insight to your brand and ideally the desire to want to work for it! It’s easy to do, a great use of technology and a great way to showcase your brand’s lighter side.

Finally, if a candidate comes in for interview, brands can even send them a short thank you snap using the platform afterwards. A personal touch like that can be quick to record, yet have a huge and memorable impact.

Targeting

An obvious limitation of this and many other platforms (perhaps excluding Facebook whose user base spans a far wider set of demographics) is the audience reach. For those recruiting the younger generations though, a clever show of brand ingenuity could be well placed using the platform.
