Suffolk County Council is recruiting around fifty more social workers within the same region in order to cope for the increase in demand for services concerning child welfare. It is expected to cost around £3.8 million for this investment in.
Council spokesman Jeremy Pembroke said, “my worry is that with the economic situation there would be more vulnerable children to look after and I want us to be proactive rather than reactive.” Suffolk County Council’s protection services will only be as effective as their frontline staff and investing in the best and most qualified social worker they can recruit will inevitably make a difference to the level of support vulnerable people get. Ensuring that the investment in social workers is as effective as it can be will mean locating the most experienced and qualified social workers available. Using low price recruitment or internet based searches will help secure the best candidates to ensure the protection of vulnerable children.
